Accent Plants

A North American Native commonly used on European green roofs. Needs some shade and water. -
Cylindropuntia imbricata
This hardy North American cactus can be used to add height and structure to a green roof. -
Dianthus carthusianorum
Bright magenta blooms on tall blue-green stems. Narrow grass-like green-blue foliage is clump forming. -
Geranium x cantabrigiense ‘Bikovo’
This is not your typical Geranium. Green foliage turns red in fall before dormancy. Flowers are pink. -
Heuchera americana
This eastern North American Native is grown for its beautiful foliage. It is an accent plant that will tolerate more shade than many other green roof plants. -
Ipomopsis rubra
North American Native. Brilliant red flowers on spikes 3 or 4 feet high. Feathery green foliage. Highly drought tolerant. -
Liatris microcephala
Tolerant of harsh growing conditions such as poor soil, heat, humidity and drought. It is a great nectar source for pollinators. -
Linum perenne
Known as Perennial Flax, It's one of our favorites some of its features include soft texture and habit, the contrast of thin silver foliage and striking almost iridescent blue flowers with highlights of purple and yellow in the center. It’s a rebloomer, re-seeder, drought tolerant, attractive to pollinators, can't go wrong. -
