Allium schoenoprasum
Description
This Allium is a great performer on green roofs and is incredibly drought tolerant. Even in extreme cases of drought, where the foliage might burn out, the bulb will generally remain intact and the plant will return the following year. Tall, grass-like foliage creates a nice upright accent when planted among carpet-forming plants, and the flowers provide a springtime splash of color. This species will tolerate some shade. This is the same plant often grown in herb gardens as chives, and, is a great addition to a culinary garden. Flowers attract butterflies, bees, and other insects. This plant can keep its foliage well into the winter months.
Available as 3″ plugs, or as bare root bulbs.
